🌊 No one should ever be caught off guard by a flood.

At the World Meteorological Organization's launch of "Stories on Water", I had the opportunity to highlight the critical role of flood forecasting and delivering life-saving warnings. But this is not just about predicting floods—it is about ensuring warnings speak to people personally, guiding them to take the right action.

The message is clear:

⚠️"Warnings must move beyond generic alerts and become actionable, personalized guidance"

🌊 HEPEX (Hydrologic Ensemble Prediction EXperiment) is a global community of researchers and practitioners dedicated to advancing hydrological ensemble prediction. It brings together experts working on various aspects of hydrological forecasting and hydrometeorological ensemble systems, fostering collaboration across science, operations, and applications.

In March this year, HEPEX celebrated its 20th anniversary with a workshop hosted by the University of Alabama, in partnership with the Alabama Water Institute and CIROH.

In this podcast episode, I share what HEPEX is all about—and why ensemble prediction plays a vital role in improving hydrological forecasts and supporting better water-related decisions.
