The MedEWSa project kicks off to contribute to the United Nations EW4All initiative

15/11/2023

Mediterranean and Pan-European Forecast and Early Warning System against Natural Hazards (MedEWSa), the 3-year EU Horizon project funded with €5m from the European Commission and coordinated by the World Meteorological Organization, kicked off on 9 & 10 November in Athens.

MedEWSa will provide assistance and tools to the United Nations Early Warning For All (EW4All) initiative, ensuring that everyone on Earth is protected from hazardous weather, water, or climate events through life-saving early warning systems by the end of 2027.

In particular, MedEWSa's will equip first responders, planners and policy makers with a suite of innovative services to improve their knowledge and optimise their response actions, enhancing rapid and efficient deployment in vulnerable areas by using highly accurate and real-time Decision Support. It will provide new knowledge on site/community/asset vulnerability, continuously updated impact forecasting, and further cascading effects.

Follow the updates from the project in the MedEWSa webpage.
